slumber parties are not meant for sleeping

Since the basketball season is almost here we decided to have a party. but not just any ordinary party. about 6:30 P.M. the guests arrived, some guys from the team and the assistant coach(he's actually the assistant of the assistant but let that go). they came over to watch basketball movies, in bulk. we started with Michael Jordan, come fly with me, an all time classic. then in succession, Michael Jordan to the MAX, Greatest finals moments of all time, Pistol Pete, Dazzling Dunks and Basketball Bloopers 1. , Dazzling Dunks and Basketball Bloopers 2. , Like Mike and finally Wallace and Gromit, A Close Shave, don't ask what Wallace and Gromit have to do with basketball. after five pizzas, four bags of popcorn, cake, ice cream and ten liters of soda, we were pretty wired or juiced as my friend scraper(nickname). you might wonder how long it takes to eat drink and what that much stuff, about eleven hours. we started at 6:45 P.M. do the math and we went to sleep at about 5:45 A.M. of course not all of us made it that long. the assistant assistant coach left at about 2:30 which wasn't to bad considering he woke up at quarter of three the morning before. they dropped off about one an hour until it was the devoted four. the next morning we woke up at about 11:00 and went down to the park and played basketball about two and a half hours. all in all it was a pretty fun night.

family

I come from a big family. i've got four brothers and a sister. usually on thanksgiving we all pack up and head to "grandpa's farm". it seems like there's more relatives every year. on a good year there will be about twenty-five of us. fortunatly there's a lot a room to move around, outside. inside it's bedlum. with that many people in the same house it gets pretty claustrophobic. i spend a lot of time outside during thanksgiving. then on thanksgiving day my uncle hauls over his grill for a pig roast. this is no ordinary grill, it's humongous. he puts one pig in it but i think you cook three at a time without much problem. the best part is the "pig pickins" thats when all the men stand around the grill picking of the parts that look juiciest. Sunday on the farm is interesting if you want a shower you have to get up early. we practice "the early bird gets the worm" rule. the church there is small so when the family walks in we double the congregation, literally. there's lots of different nationalities on the farm. you may not think they are different nationalities but trust me they are different. there's some from south carolina, pennsylvania, california, illionois and sometimes hawai'i. we rarely have family reuinions, who needs them when you have thanksgiving.

Christmas isn't quite so hectic. we usually stay home for christmas so at least i get to sleep in my own bed, most of the time. if it gets too crowded i get booted out and sleep on the floor. christmas morning is interesting. we wake up and want to open presents but are supposed to wait until after brunch. brunch is a real "log roller"(don't ask ). for brunch we have a swedish tea ring(it's basically a giant sticky bun in a circle on a big platter). after brunch we want to open presents but waitfor several hours then finally open presents.

One problem about a big family is it's hard to get everybody together at the same. time but over all having a big family is pretty fun.

soccer

I just got home from practice and i'm dead tired. I really don't like soccer very much but there is only 12 guys on the team so i guess i'm needed. Games aren't to bad, you acually acomplish something, but practice is the pits. We run around in circles to "get in shape" then we do sprints then we shoot for a few minutes then we go home. The season is almost over we have four more games, then we get to have basketball season. I really like basketball. There is no were near the running and way more scoring. Fortunately our team has been winning we are 8-2, so it's not to bad. I have one goal and in the same game every one else on the team scored so it wasn't all that special. Basically i'm trying to live through soccer season so basketball can start.
